NIHBS Ulster queenrearing event.

The Ulster NIHBS reps have planned a queen rearing day for Saturday 3rd August with 20 beekeepers invited. This includes members from all over the province of Ulster including beekeepers from UBKA associations, INIB and Fibka.
We are hoping that some of them will start up their own queen rearing groups.

The event will be an all day affair with 4 different activities planned.
Beekeepers will spend an hour at each under the supervision of a demonstrator and an assistant.

The activities covered will include:

– Setting up a cell raiser with emphasis on the queenright system, drone production
– Grafting and using an incubator to hatch cells, selecting queens to graft from
– Apidea management
– Handling queens, clipping, marking, introducing
