‘Going Native – the Potential of the Black Bee’

Organised and hosted by The Native Irish Honey Bee Society (NIHBS) –

SICAMM is the international association for the protection of the European dark bee –

Venue:- Athlone Springs Hotel, Athlone, County Westmeath, N37 F9T3, email –  

Athlone is in the centre of Ireland – for some of the many local attractions

Preliminary details:-

Presentations will generally be 30 minutes in length – abstracts must be sent in advance.   For students or those who do not wish to present in English, Posters can be put up in the conference room.

As well as the conference talks, there will be excursions to see Native Irish Black Bees, a workshop on DNA testing and a practical demonstration of the ancient art of Skep making. 

There will be a Céad Míle Fáilte (an Irish greeting meaning ‘A hundred thousand welcomes’) for everyone at our traditional ‘Céilí’ one evening, and opportunities to chat and mingle during the conference dinner another evening.

In the first instance please contact myself to register your interest –  Booking forms will be available from September 2019 with ‘Early Bird’ rates available until March 2020. 

Local excursions of general interest will be organised for accompanying partners.
