Native Irish Honey Bee Society – Apis mellifera mellifera

Native Irish Honey Bee Society
Apis mellifera mellifera

Ulster NIHBS group

The Ulster NIHBS group will be meeting up on Saturday 21st March at the UBKA conference at Greenmount, Co. Antrim. The main focus of our activities will be to coordinate the various queen rearing groups working with the Native Irish honeybee (Apis mellifera mellifera) and establish new groups throughout the province of Ulster. Groups already exist in Belfast, Killinchy, Dromore and Armagh/Monaghan and we are hoping to establish several new groups in 2015. Anyone interested in establishing a queen rearing group can count on the support of existing groups with regard to expertise and the supply of queens to graft from.

Anyone interested in starting up a group should get in touch.

Jonathan Getty, NIHBS Coordinator Ulster Region.
